JALADOより“Bean Vest”のご紹介です。
昨今また注目度が上がっているカーハートのダックのベストや、ジャケットの中から今回はダックのジップベストを参考に、非常にヘビーなダック生地を使用し製作しました。
LL BEANのトートバッグに使われるヘビーなダック生地を再現しキャメルとスモークブラックに染めた2色の生地を使い仕立てました。
20年前にSPROUTが稼働していた時代では、レギュラー古着というカテゴリーの一枚でしたが、今後このあたりのアイテムも付加価値が付いていくだろうと考えられます。
ネクストヴィンテージとして注目しリリース致しました。
素材は21.5ozのヘビーダックを使用しております。
1本ずつ先染めした糸を4本撚り、12番の糸にしてダックを織り上げました。
当時のトートバッグ用のデッドストックの生地をベストにしたというイメージですので、あえて生地耳のラインも身頃にも使ってリメイク感を出しました。
元々トートバッグ用に作られたとてつもなくゴツい生地を縫製するのは通常非常に困難なのですが、無理を言って縫って頂きました。
着込む度に良い感じに経年変化をしていきます。
中綿の入ったキルティング仕様のベストですので、保温性も高く長く着用できるかと思います。
ファスナータイプのワークベストですのでシャツだけでなく、カットソーに合わせても相性の良い一枚です。
▼ JELADO / Bean Vest
Introducing the Bean Vest from JELADO.
Inspired by the iconic duck vests and jackets from brands like Carhartt that are once again gaining attention, this zip-up duck vest is crafted using an ultra-heavy duck canvas fabric for a rugged and vintage feel.
The fabric is a recreation of the heavyweight duck canvas used in classic LL Bean tote bags, and is dyed in two colors: camel and smoke black. While such items were once considered standard fare in the world of regular vintage clothing (especially during the SPROUT era about 20 years ago), we believe pieces like this are poised to gain added value as next-generation vintage.
This vest uses an incredibly dense 21.5oz duck canvas. The fabric is woven using 4-ply twisted yarns—each strand pre-dyed individually and spun into a size 12 yarn—resulting in a heavyweight, durable texture. It’s designed with the concept of repurposing deadstock tote bag fabric into a wearable garment, and even features selvedge lines intentionally placed along the body panels to emphasize a remade aesthetic.
Sewing such thick material—originally intended for tote bags—is notoriously difficult, but we pushed the limits to make this happen. The result is a vest that will age beautifully over time, developing character with wear.
This piece is also quilted with insulation for added warmth, making it both practical and comfortable for long-term use. As a zip-front work vest, it pairs equally well with shirts or cut-and-sew items, offering versatile styling options.
