ジェラード "Basic Collection"より"Salem Crosby Jacketのご紹介です。

JELADO史上最大の支持を得た"Salem"シリーズを配色を変え復活です。

2018年に"Salem Blanket"の生地を織って頂いていた機屋さんが現在は廃業。

元々一台しか稼働していなかったジャガード織機を扱っていた機屋さんでした。

これにより生産が不可能とされていたブランケット生地ですが、今シーズン、生産背景の様々な方の協力のもと、この大柄のネイティブ柄ブランケットを織れる新たな機屋さんと取り組みが出来る様になりました。

今回、一から紋紙(柄を織るための型紙)を再製作し、糸の打ち込み本数は織機の都合で全く同じには出来ませんでしたが、織り上がってからの整理加工で、同じ厚み、同じ生地感を再現しました。

今季はネイビー×生成りの2トーンカラーで生地を織り上げています。

素材は1920年代にあった非常に珍しい黒ベースのネイティブ柄のブランケットジャケットの柄を再現しました。

ヴィンテージの世界でブランケットの黒ベースの物が市場に出ることは無く、非常に価値のある資料をもとに作る事ができました。

初リリースとなるのは1920年代以前のSmoking Coatをベースにセーラムブランケットの生地で仕立てました。

ショールカラーのサックコートの様な襟のデザインが特徴で、カットソー1枚でもサマになる、お洒落な印象を持たせてくれ
る個性的な1着です。

生地端や、ポケットの淵には細い幅のヘリンボンテープで始末し、丁寧かつ雰囲気良く仕上げています。

厚手で織上げる糸の太さゆえに15mmのテープを半分に織り込み縫うには、腕の良い工場さんにしか出来ない縫製にも拘った1着になりました。

トグルもレーヨン製の光沢あるトグルを使い、当時同様の雰囲気そのままに最高の一枚に仕立てました。

存在感のあるジャケットは唯一無二のアイテムです。

The legendary “Salem” series—JELADO’s most beloved blanket collection—returns this season with a fresh new color palette and an equally rich backstory.

The original “Salem Blanket” fabric, first woven in 2018, was considered impossible to reproduce after the sole jacquard loom responsible for it ceased operation due to the closure of the original mill. However, through the collaboration of multiple partners, a new weaving house was able to take on the challenge of recreating this large-scale native blanket pattern from scratch.

To revive the original look and feel, new punch cards for the jacquard loom were developed, and although the thread count had to be adjusted slightly, the post-weaving finishing process has successfully replicated the thickness and texture of the original fabric. The result: a luxurious two-tone navy and natural colorway woven with incredible care.

This season’s design is inspired by a rare black-based native-patterned blanket jacket from the 1920s—a piece so scarce in vintage markets that it’s nearly mythical. Drawing from this archival treasure, the Salem Crosby Jacket takes on a new form, based on pre-1920s smoking coats with a shawl-style collar reminiscent of early sack coats. It’s a uniquely refined piece that elevates even the simplest of outfits.

Key details include:
• Herringbone tape finishing on seams and pocket edges for added refinement
• Intricate stitching using 15mm herringbone tape folded in half—a feat only skilled craftspeople can execute
• Rayon toggles with a vintage sheen, staying true to period-authentic details

The Salem Crosby Jacket is not just a garment—it’s a revival of craftsmanship, storytelling, and vintage Americana. A rare piece with commanding presence and unmatched heritage.
