JELADOより " Van Nuys Pharaoh Jacket "のご紹介です。


今となっては中々お目にかからなくなった多色リブのファラオジャケット。


今回はボディも珍しいウールピケのファラオジャケットを生地から再現しました。


国内紡績した英国羊毛の特徴が似た型崩れのしにくい強い紡毛を経糸にネップ糸やケンピ糸1対1で 撚り合わせて糸を作り、経糸に3種類の糸を使用。


　山の部分（1/6.5・1/6）に2種類の糸をより合わせた杢糸、谷の部分に2/7の糸、緯糸に頑丈さを出すためにナイロン糸を混ぜた1/7の太さを撚り、畝を付けたウールピケを織り上げました。


タテの1/6が、ウール100％、その他の糸には10％ナイロンが入る為、計算上ウール92％、ナイロン8％になります。


ジャガードと同様に、凹凸裏表（昼夜）にして作成の上、表の山部分の番手を谷のタテ糸より太くして出しております。


生地の整理加工は、あまり揉みこまないよう注意しながら、洗いも時間もかけず低温で縮絨をあまりかけないツィード仕上げで素材感出る様、出来るだけ自然な生地の仕上げにすることでVINTAGE同様の雰囲気を作りました。


裏地はキルティングではなく柄物の裏地を使うことで、いままでとも違った印象の一枚になっております。


50年代のヴィンテージの高騰が続く中、この年代の代表的なアウターの一つであるファラオジャケット。大き目に着用しレザーの上に着るのもよし、オープンカラーのシャツに合わせ50年代を楽しむのも良い万能な一枚です。

Introducing the Van Nuys Pharaoh Jacket from JELADO.

A rare find in today’s market, this multi-striped rib Pharaoh jacket pays homage to a bygone era with a fresh reproduction using an uncommon wool pique fabric—faithfully recreated from scratch.

The fabric is constructed using domestically spun British wool, selected for its shape-retaining, sturdy worsted characteristics. Three types of yarn are used for the warp: a heathered yarn made by twisting two types of yarn (1/6.5 and 1/6) for the raised ridges, and a 2/7 yarn for the valleys. The weft incorporates a 1/7 yarn blended with nylon to add extra durability, resulting in a textured wool pique fabric with pronounced ridges.

The final blend is approximately 92% wool and 8% nylon, calculated based on the yarn content. Like jacquard fabrics, the weave plays with contrast by using thicker yarns on the raised warp ridges to create rich surface texture.

For the finishing, the wool was minimally processed to preserve its natural feel—using low-temperature fulling and avoiding aggressive washing—to achieve a tweed-like finish reminiscent of true vintage textiles.

Instead of the conventional quilted lining, this jacket features a patterned inner lining, offering a unique and refreshing take on the Pharaoh jacket aesthetic.

As 1950s vintage outerwear continues to surge in popularity and price, the Pharaoh jacket remains an iconic piece from that era. This versatile version works just as well worn oversized over leather jackets, or styled with open-collar shirts for a classic mid-century look.
